YouthLink Cyber Safety Field Trip
We dive headfirst into the digital world with Grade 6 students to help them build a safer, smarter online presence. This hands-on, police-powered Cyber Safety field trip helps students navigate the wild world of online life. From cyberbullying to serious risks like extortion and online harassment, we unpack it all through real stories, interactive tools, and small-group activities.
Students become cyber detectives, learn how to spot danger, protect themselves, and ask for help when it matters most.
Program Intel:
- Cost: FREE
- Location: Calgary Police Discovery Centre
- Who: Grade 6 classes (within Calgary city limits)
- When: September–June (Mon–Thurs)
- Capacity: One class per day: max 35 students each
- Length: 4.5–5 hours
What To Expect?
- Explore Calgary’s interactive police museum
- Use our YouthLink cyber safety platform for hands-on activities
- Learn through tech tools and videos featuring real CPS cybercrime experts
- Discuss online privacy, identity protection, cyberbullying, extortion, harassment, and how to navigate it all safely
- Understand the role police play in investigating online crime and how to ask for help when it’s needed
Who Can Apply?
- Who: Grade 6 classes within Calgary city limits
- When: Mondays to Thursdays, September through June
- Capacity: Two classes per day (max. 35 students per class)
- Length: Full-day (4.5–5 hours)
- Cost: Absolutely free. The only thing you need to cover is transportation.
- Note for split classes: The crime stays the same year-to-year, so we recommend switching it up if your students attended last year.
Booking the Experience
This one fills fast, so be ready to book your mission:
- Registration opens: August 17
- First-come, first-serve (seriously, set a reminder)
- Designate one teacher contact for your school to handle the booking
- Have this intel ready:
- Number of classes you’re bringing
- Estimated student numbers (max 35 per class)
- Preferred months and unavailable dates
If the program fills up, don’t worry, you can hop on the cancellation waitlist, and we’ll do our best to get your students in.
