Name Our New Recruits
Four Throwbots. Four Personalities. Four Names to Choose.
These tactical robots, known as Throwbots, help visitors explore real police technology through hands-on missions, obstacle courses, and interactive challenges. Before they can begin their duties, they need something every great recruit needs:
More Than Just a Number
Every Throwbot arrives with an alphanumeric designation stamped onto its frame. It’s the kind of name you’d expect to find in a technical manual, not on a member of the team.
But after spending time navigating missions, exploring obstacle courses, and working alongside visitors, it’s become clear these recruits deserve something better than a collection of letters and numbers.
So before A2, B2, C2, and D2 begin their official duties, we’re asking the public to help choose names that reflect who they really are.
Before they can begin their duties, they need something every great recruit needs:
A NAME.
Meet A2
"Always first into the action."
A2 is adventurous, confident, and fast. Always charged up and ready to roll, A2 thrives when there’s a mission to complete and a challenge to overcome.
Driven by a strong sense of duty, A2 wants to be where the action is. Whether exploring new territory, tackling obstacles, or leading the charge, A2 is always eager to help and protect the team.

Meet B2
"One clue changes everything."
B2 is serious, focused, and patient. While other robots may rush ahead, B2 prefers to slow down, observe, and make sure every detail is accounted for.
A reliable teammate with a sharp eye for clues, B2 carefully examines every situation and approaches each mission with precision. If there’s something important to find, chances are B2 will spot it first.

Meet C2
"Looking out for everyone is kind of my thing."
Bold, caring, and courageous, C2 is the strong silent type. They are not looking for the spotlight. They are built for service. First into the scene and last one out, C2 leaves no one behind. With a deep sense of duty and a natural connection to their human partners, you can be assured C2 has eyes on you.
Now it is your turn to help define who C2 becomes. This robot needs an official name and the public gets to choose. Review the four name options, pick the one that fits C2’s personality, and cast your vote. Your decision helps shape the identity of a robot trusted to protect and support every mission.

Silly, loud, and charismatic, D2 stands out from the crowd. They are the only Throwbot equipped with the ability to talk. The team counts on D2 to be their collective voice. It is a big responsibility. D2 is still discovering their voice, armed with a sense of humor and a volume knob stuck on high. There is nothing stealth about D2. You will hear them coming and going.
Now it is your turn to help define who D2 becomes. This talkative robot needs an official name and the public gets to choose. Review the four name options, pick the one that fits D2’s bold personality, and cast your vote. Your decision helps shape the identity of the robot who speaks for the team.

From Designations to Identities
Vote for the names you think best match each Throwbot’s personality and help give our newest recruits identities that are every bit as memorable as the missions they’ll take on.
Voting will remain open until September 16, after which the results will be counted and the winning names selected.
The official names will then be unveiled at Calgary Police Discovery Day on September 18, where these four recruits will take the next step from technical equipment to fully fledged members of the Throwbot team.
